            Bug ID: 103755
           Summary: Remove toolbar auto-hide behaviour
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 5.2.3.2 rc
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Impress
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

The current auto-hide behaviour of the tool bars in impress is confusing and
visually annoying.

The constant changing in size of the slide area every time a different object
is selected (resulting in toolbars popping in and out of the toolbar area) is
rather unnerving, and makes working in impress a quite unpleasant experience.

Furthermore, there is no added value to this functionality. Automatically
hiding or revealing toolbars only appears to be a rather bad imitation of the
behaviour observed in other software, where specific toolbars are available for
specific objects. Yet, the crucial difference between current libreoffice
behavior and that of other proprietary software is that, in the proprietary
software) the appearance and disappearance of such toolbars is visually and
functionally silent: The toolbar is merely an extra menu which the user may or
may not decide to use, and it doesn't change the visible toolbars and buttons
(and especially, doesn't constantly re-dimensionates the working area).

I would like to ask for this feature to be removed from Impress (and any other
libreoffice software where it is implemented), in the spirit of improving user
experience and usability.
