I disagree. LO could also remove Bold, small-caps and other settings from the
UI too as an extension could do it. The goal should be to empower the user to
create the best documents they can, and OT features really make a substantial
difference to quality typography.
I know that LO is constrained by the number of developers capable of working on
these features, but I still think this remains important. If there is no UI,
and even if there is only a hard-to-discover extension, the feature may as well
not exist for the majority of users.
