Priority: medium
Bug ID: 56739
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: LO gives non-informative error messages or loops the
dialog when trying to open a "Corrupted file"
Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 3.6.3.2 release
Component: Writer
Product: LibreOffice
Hello,
If LO tries to open a "corrupted file", LO shows a dialog offering to recover
the file. It I select "yes", It gets a very abstract error message like
"Reading error" (that could be much better). However, if I select to not
recover the file, it gives a message like "It was not possible to recover the
file" (but I didn't asked for it), and goes back to the dialog offering to
recover the file.
If the file is corrupted, and I say "yes" to the recovering, the error message
should be a little more informative.
If the file is corrupted, and I say "no" to the recovering, it should only
cancel the operation and not say the "recovering failed" and even worse that it
bounces back to the previous dialog.
For a "corrupted file" example, just save a ".docx" file and rename it to
".doc". It fails to detect the new format using the old extension (but M$ word
detects the format without problems: Bug 54949)
