I'm afraid I simply do not understand your questions about: 
- which distribution and which version do you use ?

- if Ubuntu, did you check if lo-menubar package was installed, if yes could
you, for the test, uninstall it and try again ?

- did you install any specific LO extensions ?



Finally, if you still reproduce the problem, could you also try with a brand
new profile (mv ~/.config/libreoffice ~/.config/libreoffice_backup) ?
I can say that I am using Ubuntu 12.04LTS, and Libre Office 3.5.4.2, Build
ID 350M1(Build:2).

It is not working and I have done my best to describe the error.  If
colleagues cannot find the fault, or explain to me in plain language what
further information is needed, then Libre Office Impress will remain an
inadequte product, inaccessible to the lay user.  This is a shame, since the
success of the open source programme in general is very much to be desired.
