Start-up performance is crucial, and checking files takes long. Thumbnails are
generated and painted to allocate the space and to position correctly. We need
to split this and have the painting done in thread. The code is used also for
the templates dialog.

Please don't hide but disable aka grey-out. We may also use some other state
for documents that time-out.
