Is "author section" what is "Document" tab has, named "Author", with "Name" and
"Initials" under "Select"? Then the UX meeting decision was wrong. Because the
type "Author", amusingly, does not mean "author of the document" - the latter
is under "Created" on DocInformation tab. The discussed "Author" type on
"Document" tab is about ... current user, and modifying it at any time is fine.
(But of course, the field name likely needs attention to become more correct.)

No; but I don't think we need more suggestions. Simply when any field uses some
property available elsewhere, the Edit button *should* be used to open that
place directly; that's how it was designed.
