Bug ID: 146782
Summary: Language names in French to be improved
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 7.4.0.0 alpha0+ Master
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: trivial
Priority: medium
Component: Localization
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
In the French translation of LibreOffice, in the options, the names of the
languages are sometimes inconsistent as they don't follow the official
recommendations (from the United Nations for example). Note that these same
names are not the ones displayed during the installation. So there is a little
cleaning to be done in both the Options and the installation wizard. Here are
the proposed corrections:
"Anglais (U.S.A.)" → "Anglais (États-Unis)"
"Yiddish (USA)" → "Yiddish (États-Unis)"
"Serbe cyrillique (Montenegro)" → "Serbe cyrillique (Monténégro)"
"Serbe latin (Montenegro)" → "Serbe latin (Monténégro)"
"Haoussa (Nigeria)" → "Haoussa (Nigéria)" (both writings are used but the
second one is recommended in France)
"Arabe (EAU)" → "Arabe (Émirats arabes unis)"
"Espagnol (El Salvador)" → "Espagnol (Salvador)"
"Espagnol (Venezuela)" → "Espagnol (Vénézuéla)" (both writings are used but the
second one is recommended in France)
Thank you!
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the Options menu.
2. Select the language settings.
Actual Results:
Language names are sometimes mistranslated
Expected Results:
Language names should be the official ones.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
Another cosmetic issue, as you can see on the attachment, is that the sub-menu
starts with "Langue de" in bold, while "Langue" alone seems more appropriate.
"Paramètres locaux" should be "Paramètre local", and "Identique au paramètre de
la locale" should be "Identique au paramètre local". The Date acceptance
patterns should alos be translated.
