First, please update to current release of LibreOffice--7.2.7 or 7.3.3, or work
with nightly master.

Need better STR, how are you setting paragraph "left justified"? The paragraph
'Alignment'? Options are:

Left [aligned]
Right [aligned]
Center [aligned]
Justified [justified to page, frame, or section margin]

So are you asking about a 'Left' *aligned* paragraph?

If tweaking an aesthetic, with Direct Formatting you can adjust font size,
indent, margin placement, justify the paragraph or sentence. You can place the
paragraph into a Frame, or into a Shape TextBox. You can also make changes to
the paragraph Style being applied.

But in general, the text is simply reflowed to respond at right margin in
accordance with the Style applied to the paragraph. Full line justification
will open space between words, but simple alignments use the font metric to
calculate proximity to the margin and wrap text by rule.
