I can confirm this behavior using Mac OSX 10.8.3 with LibreOffice Version
4.0.2.1 (Build ID: 7e5467ff8f30d821f4fbf69cb2769163eb64c2c)
TinderBox: MacOSX TDF Release, Branch:libreoffice-4-0, Time:
2013-03-12_21:31:08
Therefore I mark this bug as NEW. 

Because there is a workaround, I mark this bug (following [1]) as Minor High:

* Minor: Does make it substantially harder to make high quality work
* High: annoying work around and affects power users
