I poked Italo just now. See if he offers a take on it.

Otherwise, more so than "Annotate" --which it does with the style index values
and color coding-- a simple "Show styling" label adjacent to the "Show
previews" would identify what the checkbox will do.

But then so does "Spotlight" as intransitive or figurative verb--exactly Apples
usage for naming their search engine.
