Priority: medium
Bug ID: 64430
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: : Text Can not be Inserted into Non-filled Basic
Shapes
Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 4.0.2.2 release
Component: Libreoffice
Product: LibreOffice
Problem description:
Steps to reproduce:
[1] Open new text document.
[2] Insert rectangle. Rectangle is filled blue.
[3] Double click into rectangle: The cursor is positioned in the middle of the
rectangle and you are able to insert text.
[4] If you have inserted text, delete it (all characters). Then Esc.
[5] Remove colour of rectangle: Context menu > Area... > Area > Fill > None
[6] Double click into rectangle in order to insert text. Nothing happens!
Inserting text with double click is not possible !!! Expected: Inserting text
possible like in step [3].
[7] First I did not found a possibility to insert text not at all. But there is
of course a possibility, but you have to know and it's not obvious: “Double
click” on “border line” of rectangle.
In Draw and Impress the behaviour is the same.
Well, you can discuss if it is a bug or not. E.g. there could be normal text in
the backward which is visible through the non-filed rectangle and a double
click should select a word of this text. But even if this is intended there
should be a more intuitive way to add text to a rectangle or other basic
shapes. 2 Proposals:
(1) Single click on border line in order to select the shape, then single click
into shape.
(2) Menu item “Insert Text” in context menu of shape.
Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.0.2.2 release
