Well, I'll toss in my observations - which assuming I'm doing this correctly might point more to a problem, if there is one, withing the deb packages.
Thanks for confirming that it's fine with the rpm package. Do others use the *deb* packages from the daily build? I just tried with the one from 2011-11-13 and it gives me the same problems.
