In the meantime you can use a more intelligent translation tool, I used
to use Virtaal[1], it has a very nicely presented translation UI for
translation memory and it is very helpful with duplicated strings even
across files (and even if not 100% duplicate). It was a real time saver
for me (I used several PO editors trough the years, but Virtaal was the
best, I don't do much l10n now).
