Dear LibreOffice Packaging, hello. I wanted to inquire regarding introducing LibreOffice x64 into Ubuntu for the 16.04 cycle.
Granted, this request is a little late, but I think it would benefit the Ubuntu Community tremendously. More specifically, I've been starving for faster, better, and more efficient applications, and those that are x64 tend to outperform their 32-bit counterparts. However, this would naturally induce a higher overhead on the Ubuntu Community, and more specifically LOP. One thing that may help alleviate such an overhead is instead of it being in Main, where the support expectations are higher, it could be a part of Universe to set expectations accordingly given the additional packaging resources required. However, if this is simply consuming too many resources, it's too late in the cycle, not the projects intending direction, etc. could we have at least a LibreOffice Packaging PPA to put it in the hands of folks who desire this outcome? I'm eager to contribute my documentation, triage, and QA efforts towards this. What do you think? Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter, and I look forward to your response.
