Perhaps I am missing something here, or maybe I'm just dumb. I was under the
impression that what you wanted was the power requirements for the Libretto.
At the input plug you need 15 Volts at 2 Amps. Unless you have taken a
battery shell and modified it to act as an input source, Its voltage and Amp
rating are totally irrelevant. After all you are not supplying voltage here.
When the Libretto is connected to an external power supply it is Charging
the Libretto batteries. This requires more current than when running on its
battery. The Libretto has a battery charging circuit that is power up when
connect to external power. The difference in run time is the power required
to run the Charger circuit. There is no point in worrying about minimal
power requirements, because if this is all you can supply, its no where
enough. So that means you need to be able to supply 15 volts at 2 amps, or
you will kill batteries, and your computer given enough time. With older
Nicad batteries it was possible to add external power and run off both the
Nicad and solar, to extend run time. With the Libretto battery this is just
asking for trouble.

IMHO your friend does not understand what he is trying to do. By not
supplying the correct input voltage and current, you are playing with
explosives. The Libretto battery does not take to being charged at just any
voltage and or rate. The battery charger needs to have a control that shuts
it down when it can no longer supply the correct voltage.
