I wish someone out tehre had a dead one that they'd be willing to sell, or
break up. If fact, an idea is to find a busted one and break it up for it's
parts. Someone out there has t have a need for a good case, or misc parts,
a good mboard, hard drive, etc.
If someone has a bad one, they won't just make one person happy, they'd
make several people happy. My needs go a tad beyond just a screen, I also
am looking for the lid locking snap things, and one of those buttons that
detect when the screen closes. The previous owner didn't like those, so he
just broke them off. "Well, I didn't like the thing beeping when I closed
the screen." "Why not just disable it in the bios?" "What's a bios? Is that
a special driver that's needed for windows '95? Well, I never found a
'bios' on the hard drive, so the Libretto just dosen't have a 'bios' then."
(sigh) It's really a shame that it's illegal to shoot some people. :)
But the big thing, I'm looking for is a screen. And if I find one, odds
are I'll have a screen to take the backlight out of to fix a dead backlight
on another libretto. So if someone out there has a libretto to donate to
the group, you might just almost make back the cost of one on the used
market ($500 for a 50) with it completely broken apart, and make many
libretto users happy.

I would think that any model 50, 60 or 70 screen case would fit on your
friend's UK unit. (I believe that the only difference between the various
international units is the keyboard layout, the software installed from the
factory, and default windows configurations, and perhaps tweaks in the
bios) The /only/ problem I forsee about using a screen back from another
model of libretto, 50, 60, 50/60/70 from other country, etc, is that the
text printed on it would be different. But that can be removed to make it
completely blank, or you could cover it up with a fancy sticker, like a
bumber sticker or something.
But, I've never seen the inside of a 50 / 60 or any other model other than
my 70ct, so don't hold me to it. But I'm certain enough that I'm looking
for a 50 or 60 as an alternative for parts for fixing up my 70ct.
