Well, no offense taken. But the same reason you don't want to learn linux
is the reason I want to use it. I spend 10 hrs a day on various unix
machines. I would come home at night, and not be able to do what I wanted
in Windows, because I did not have the experience in it. Now I dual boot
my libretto with linux and windows and I am much happier.
There is little difference between what windows has to do and what linux
has to do to use a piece of hardware. It's just that windows usually makes
the choices for you and linux does not. Flexable systems are hard to
configure, and inflexable systems are easy to configure. PalmOS syncing to
Windows works out of the box because someone limited the flexability of
the OS. PalmOS can PPP with Linux because someone made the generic
building blocks and left it to you to use what you want.
It is never good to have just one choice. The cool thing is now you and I
can use our different environments on the same hardware and both learn
about the hardware and the other OS on this list.
I love the Internet...
