Subject: Reformat and reload Libretto 100ct
I am new to this mail list so excuse me if this is a previously answered
question.
I just purchased a Libretto 100ct. I want to clean the hard drive and
be able to do a clean reinstall of Windows 98. It has a CD-ROM (EXP
2020). The previous owner had loaded Win98se on the unit but I did NOT
receive either the companion disc or the Win98 CD. I have a Win98 CD.
My problem is that the Win98 on the computer will not let me do a
startup disc, with a message that I must insert the Win98se CD to get
missing files. It will not recognize my Win98 CD even when I give it
the full address to the file it needs. McAfee VS also will not make a
startup disc.
I am looking for a list of the files that I need on a startup disc to
get the computer running and recognizing the FDD and CD-ROM drive in a
DOS mode. I want to format the C drive and then install my Win98.
I have done this type of clean on another computer a couple years ago
and only had problems getting the autoexec.bat and config.sys files
edited to get the right configuration for the CD. I was able to get a
startup disc from that machine to give me a starting point. With this
one, all I have is a blank floppy disc. I have downloaded the drivers
for the CD-ROM drive and a few from Toshiba.
I will greatly appreciate any pointers or help.
