Subject: X-Window display problem with Mandrake 7.0 on L110

I got too much time yesterday so I decided to install Linux Mandrake 7.0
on my Lib 110. Everything went smoothly except for X-Window. There are 2
main problems:-

1. I can't get X to work with an external monitor. Everytime I attached the
Lib to the port replicator and started X, the monitor would go blank and
goes on standby mode with its LED blinking orange. Is there a setting
somewhere I need to tweak so that X would display on external monitor?

2. When I'm using the internal LCD, X would start nicely but I can't see
the bottom task bar where the KDE start button is. I have tried putting
"Virtual 1024 1024" and can see more real estate but I still can't see
the bottom task bar. Tried using xvidtune too but to no avail.

I would very much appreciate if somebody can post their working XF86config
file.

Best regards,
