It will get you the exact same, plus the etrex has a lot better tracking
capability than the earthmate. I don't have to keep my etrex in the clear
line of sight of the sky like I do with my earthmate. It also acquires
satellites. quickly, most times within 15-20 seconds, about 45 sec. if I am
moving in a car. You will get some usability with it in Standalone, but you
will not get detail street maps. But you can download directions to the
GPS, and they will show up on the tracks screen, as well as the Route
screen.
