You can try downloading the free IBM disk manager program from
http://www.storage.ibm.com/ and see if that'll help.
I think in the past, people have tried various ways to format the HD,
usually by hooking it up to a desktop PC, fdisking it, and dropping it
back into the Libretto.
Be careful - the thicker 9.5mm HD in the L50 may cause future delamination
of the RAM chips from the Motherboard (they sit just above the HD). You
should consider removing the plastic spacers under the black plastic
sheeting around the HD bay just in case. Of course, that does mean you'll
have to disassemble the Libretto...
