I run the same setup, but use a null PARALLEL cable, sometimes called a
parallel laplink cable. MUCH faster than the null modem (serial) cable,
and I have used it for minor networking - you can get about twice modem
speeds without a problem. Got the cable at my local computer joint for
$7USD.
