Depending on what is displayed on the screen and the screen angle, it might be
possible to see very faint traces of text/graphics on your screen if it is only
the backlight that's gone out.

However, if you can't see any differences, it's up in the air.  At this time,
I'd test it with a monitor to make sure the graphics subsection is working
okay, then disassembly the unit to have a look at the connectors and such
around the LCD panel area to see if there are any quick fixes by making sure
contact is good.

Of course, if it's only the backlight, that should be under $100 at
www.micsol.com.

If it's the expensive LCD, time to go Ebay shopping as the replacement cost out
of warranty is about the same as a used Libretto.
