Subject: Win2k success
Hi!
I have now finished the Win2k installation on my Lib 110. All is working
perfect - at least 99% ;-))
Power management, standby, hibernation, battery saving options, hwsetup -
all is up and running! On an IBM 20GB disk. Even automatic transition from
standby to hibernation works! Intern/extern monitor switch is possible via
hwsetup control-panel and reboot - I can live with this.
If there would be a recommendation by Toshiba, a lot of experiments and
re-installations could be avoided...
It is relatively simple: First you have to upgrade to Bios 8.00. Then you
need only 3 software-packages from Toshiba (e.g.
http://support.toshiba-tro.de/win2000/2000update.htm )
- Toshiba Value added Logical Device
- Toshiba Power Extensions 1 (which is NOT the "hairy light bulb"! The
"hairy light bulb", which is version 2, works only partly!)
- Toshiba Utilities (= hwsetup control panel)
It is important to use the same language versions as the Win2k itself. I
noticed no error messages in this case, but the control panel extensions did
not appear!
Correct partitioning of the disk is still in progress, see my next mail...
