Subject: floor+libretto=bugger

Well, obviously a few years of reading about the disasters of others on this
list has bred a false feeling of complacency - after three models and over
three years of accident-free libretto ownership, I've gone and done it -
about 20 minutes ago the powercord of my charging 1050 got caught on the
side of my chair as I pushed it aside, resulting in an approximately
three-foot fall onto a carpet-covered concrete floor.

It landed flat on its back (bouncing out the keyboard-retaining piece of
plastic) and the screen now has vertical red, green and blue stripes
covering it. I restarted, and when it wouldn't boot past the initial
virus-check, re-booted and am currently running scan disk. Yes - there are
at least some bad clusters (and still only 10% through the scan).

Anyway - apart from the relatively important data which I have of course not
backed up recently enough, there is the small matter of the injured
computer. I suspect that it may just be a jarred display connection
(hopefully)- as the actual panel is still intact.

I do have a friend popping over to New Zealand from Japan for Christmas
though, so was wondering if anyone knew if any Librettos were still
commercially available - she lives an hour out of Sapporo, but will probably
be coming out through Tokyo, so it's probably a good time at the moment to
try and get a replacement...?

Any suggestions?

Simon
