Subject: External HDD / USB question
Is anyone out there using an external HDD?
With Win'98 and/or Win'2K?
Hints / tips / recommendations much appreciated!
If I want to hook up said external drive to my L110, am I right to say
that
via a PC-card slot is the only sensible option? (I don't have the dock
with
USB).
Also, am I right to presume that as the L110 has CardBus, I have a
choice
between the PC-card being a dedicated external HDD card, or using a USB
card?
Any disadvantage with the USB option? I can see USB might be useful for
other things in the future (actually I guess I'd buy a USB mouse at the
same
time and stop carrying the replicator everywhere).
Will either or both (proprietry/USB) options power an external 2.5" x
9.5mm
without needing an external power supply?
I remember reading that someone on the list was using an external HDD
but
that the software was crap, so any recommendations for a good piece of
kit
would be very much appreciated - likewise which USB cards are to be
preferred/avoided - TIA
