I have an unvarying sequence with (spit) windows installations - either
desktop or Lib...I *always* begin by formating the drive - with a dos boot -
and then copying the installation CD (or floppies) to a win95 (or whatever)
directory. I then do the installation from the hard drive, which has the
advantage that not only is it quicker, but any future installation files
automagically look on the hard drive rather than the CD.
(If possible, I try to do the same trick with linux too - copy the CD to a
windows partition and launch from there. It has similar advantages - if I
forgot something on the linux install, I can get it withoutBut not all
linuxes will boot properly from the HD. On the other hand, I've never
*needed* to re-install linux...)
