Well, I suppose that it also depends on what your own personal definition of
what expensive is, but I suspect that the US does enjoy better pricing on
computer equipment and gadgetry than many other countries.
Due to the weakness of the Canadian dollar things just look more expensive
$200-$300 is actually $300-$450 CDN. In addition, our lower salaries and
higher income taxes PLUS the additional 15% in sales taxes makes it FEEL
really expensive too. No wonder Canadian culture is based around misshapen
donuts and beer...
That said, I should say that I'm happy that I don't have to endure
Australian prices and their funny electrical plug shapes...

Er? I don't know about other countries, but here in the US, it's only
$200-300 for a DLink wireless access point, and $100 or less for PCMCIA or
PCI
cards for the PCs.
Nothing like surfing the web in the bathtub!
