  Works. A few minutes at most. Fastest.

  Takes about 4-6 hours with 2-3GB of data over a parallel port on ECP/EPP.

  If it is >8.4GB, then you'll need the HD in the Libretto with the IBM disk
manager program up and running and/or the HD in the desktop with the same
running. Otherwise, you won't be able to correctly restore the partition.

  Portable external HD (eg. www.h45.com with 2.5" HD) also works w/o having to
attach to a desktop. Simply load two dos drivers and backup directly to
portable external HD.

  Me? I got very bored after doing the parallel port transfer, and went out
right away to get the 2.5" to 3.5" converter because I had a PC at home as well
handy. Then, simply setup the Libretto as I wanted, backuped the entire thing,
and off I went. Happily, I never had to worry about restoring from the CD
until I sold it years later - I'd still have attached the HD to the desktop for
any restores I would have encountered to save time.

  Beyond that, I could have restored from my portable 6x SCSI Sony discman
after burning the image to CD-R since there were DOS drivers from Adaptec that
supported the PCMCIA SCSI card under DOS. (No, I didnt' need any C/S services
as I vaguely remembered- just the adaptec SCSI drivers for that model, and
mscdex).

  d =)
