You didn't mention your hard drive size, but ever since it was brand
new my 12 GB Toshiba drive in my 70ct it has never been able to
complete a full scandisk under DOS. It seems as if the speed
asymptotically (sp) approaches zero. It goes fast at first and slows
down the further into the drive it gets.
A scandisk under windows with the scheduling app shut down seems to
work much better on my particular hard drive. It can run in a matter
of minutes in standard mode, or an hour or so in thorough mode.
