Hi Konrad,
I have actually ran into this problem a couple of
times.
First time my speaker actually blew so I had to
replace my speaker.
Second time, I had to update my sound drivers so that
Windows 98 would run sound for me. You can do this at
the Official toshiba website somewhere under support
(www.csd.toshiba.com).
