couldn't see my cd rom.. (i know,,, having installed from it.. !)

Ok So from the prompt for a system disk, that tells me that you most
likely have a fixed Hard disk that is NOT formatted at this point. So
you most likely need to go ahead and format it now. Once you do that,
(and use the system switch- to transfer dos to it) you should again
have a bootable hard drive, that will take you to a C:> prompt. Files
you need will most likely be on the Toshiba companion disk.
Check out this location for a point enabler (software to let the
Toshiba recognize the CD-Rom.)
http://www.targus.com/downloads/nw24xcd.sys
add this file "nw24xcd.sys" to your config.sys file to enable the
CD-Rom, you will also need to add "MSCDEX.exe" to your autoexec.bat
file. While you are there you may want to take a look at question 5 &
6 about charging the battery in your drive. (It's just possible that
you actually may have had it working (red led light flashing) and it
went into autocharge mode (no led on at all) where it shuts down for
10 to 20 minutes while it charges it's batteries.)

Once you get DOS back I would copy everything you might in anyway need
to one of the libretto drives and run it from there.

By the way you do know that the recovery disk is actually a 3.5"
floppy (used just to get the system to recognize the CD drive and a CD
rom (that has the programs on it to actually restore the Libretto), so
of what you describe sounds as if you where trying to just using the
3.5" floppy. From the docs that I saw it should show up as an ide
drive by the way.
