Subject: LIbretto 50CT and DJSA-220 20GB Ibm Travelstar Hard Drive Compatability

IF there is anyone out there who can confirm this drive will work with the
libretto I need to talk to you.

I have tried everything I can imagine and talked to several of you as well.
Thank you for those who have tried. I even talked to some dude on ebay who
claims he can partition these drives to work without Drive Overlay and DIsk
Manager Programs.(look for his add) I called him on his cell phone and it
died. He says it works for the the Libretto CT100 and 110 and think it
might possibly work for the 50 as it also works for the 70. He said a friend
of his got it to work

. I would hate to have to send this drive back due to a stupidity error. My
only success has been with (Zeroing the Drive) and making an onstar bootdisk
with diskmanager. It will boot but when you start typing in commands you
start getting corrupted directory listings in dos and stuff with funky
characters. I am really out of ideas to try here. Also with normal fdisk dos
does see the drive as 8024MB but when format c:/s is used it boots to
flashing cursor. Hibernation is disabled in bios. AS a last resort I even
bridged min 28 and 30 as I have read some issues of that with toshiba and
ibm drives.(it is unbridged now)
Some of you have suggested powerquest Partition Magic. Well that would be
great except that if i format the drive with disk manager or similar it will
not recognize on secondary master controller on a desktop with a 3.5 HD
adapter cable. Maybe I am getting closer, Maybe I am Beating a dead stick. I
dont know at this point

Funny thing this has all made me realize is although I can build PCs from
the ground up test, diagnos, and repair them. I really know very little
about the Old School Equipment. I think my first Pc was a 200MHZ Packard
Bell. We all move up in the world sometime.

In closing, I am back to square 1 now and will see how powerful this
community is as this is a cry for help sincerely.
