problems installing LINUX on my Libretto 70CT
Hmm.. no, I don't know exactly. On my desktop (Libby is already powered off
for the day) I get a similar message in my boot log immediately before swap
space is turned on. I know you probably don't want to keep swapping the hard
drive back-and-forth between machines, but maybe you could try to disable
swap and see if it boots that way?
Other than that I don't know... that's an unusual point for it to hang.
It should have already mounted the root filesystem, right? It's about to
scan the PCI bus, but that comes AFTER the swap space initialization.
If nothing else, join the linux-laptop mailling list hosted on
vger.kernel.org and ask them. Maybe they could help.
If you post there, I'll see your post, but you might want to include some
information about what kind of machine you loaded the OS on... that's the
only variable I can think of...
Other than that, you'll probably want to build a custom kernel for the
libby that doesn't have any additional hardware drivers in the kernel.
There could be a conflict with some other driver, although that sort of
thing is rare these days... Make sure that you compile it for the target
CPU of 586-mmx!!!!! The default will be whatever it is on the machine you
install on, which won't work if it's higher revved than a P5MMX!!!
Good luck,
David
