AFAICT this is NOT the case. I have a 20GB IBM HD with the IBM disk
manager software in my Lib70. I experimented to find out the
hibernation location as follows:
1) install Windows in a small partition at the start of the drive.
2) install Partition Magic, and use it to create several partitions of
about 100MB in the areas that could be affected (just before & after
cyl 1024, and at the end of the drive) and create zip files that fill
each partition.
3) Suspend the Libretto, then resume and check which of the zip files
are now corrupt.
4) Delete the partitions created in step 2, and repeat with
progressively smaller ones in the area affected, until you are down to
1 cylinder in size.
I don't have my results to hand, but ISTR that the hibernation area
turned out to be cylinders 1023 and below.
