I still don't have a clue about! Well when you close the panel, it goes into resume mode (ie. it goes into standby for the timeout perioud specified before going into suspend/hibernation mode). When you open the panel again it either comes out of standby or suspend/hibernation depending on what state it ended up in. The difference between standby and suspend/hibernation is the former only shuts down the HDD, display panel, CPU and peripherials where the latter saves all RAM to disk before totally shutting down. Note that the former *may* also save RAM to disk as a precaution (but comes out of standby faster if the timeout perioud hasn't expired). Personally, when on full power (ie. plugged in) I leave it in boot mode (and go start>suspend when required), when on low power (ie. batteries) I set it on suspend mode but I set the timeout to zero and enable the panel switch so when I close the panel it immediately goes into suspend/hibernation mode (and comes back out of it when I open the panel). Of course, for some dumb reason Microsoft Word has a habit of gumming up the works and preventing hibernation ... one time I just closed the panel, put the libby in my coat pocket and half an hour later wondered why it was getting a bit warm ... >Hmmm... all those disks are on CA... should I download another...
