OK I just realized that I *might* have got 'standby' and 'suspend' mixed up ... it
could well be that 'suspend' keeps data in RAM and 'standby/hibernate' saves it to
disk ... unfortunately Toshiba didn't consistently use the term 'Hibernation' until a
couple of years ago to avoid all confusion (note that there are only 2 concepts being
dealt with in that system tab - saving RAM to disk and not saving RAM to disk - but
Toshiba use the terms 'Hibernation mode', 'Suspend mode' and 'Standby mode' without
saying which 2 are equivalent).

In either case, it just occurs to me that you can use the online help in the power
saver applet (click on the ? next to the X in the upper right corner then click on the
item that you want to find out more about). The help isn't exactly intuitive - you may
have to read it twice to get whats changing what (eg. the difference between the 2
slider bars in the 'system' tab) but in conjunction with a bit of playing around it
should get you to where you want :-)
