Hmm, is there any way you can send the output of your X server as it starts
up? My setup is fairly standard, and I found the log file here:
/var/log/XFree86.0.log
That output would be really helpful. If your X server is indeed using my
XFree86 config, either it's rejecting the modeline or it's somehow reverting
to 800x600 (which is not defined at all in my XF86Config). Something's up
...
