After leaving the lib unplugged and no main battery overnight, so I got
the CMOS checksum error, I left the lib running all day to try to charge
the CMOS battery. It worked! Everything is now OK again, and no
dismantling required. I guess I should try to find a source for a
replacement anyway...

Maybe you should try this, Larry?

Thanks for the help, everyone.
