The page deals with a mic - but there's data on the chip which IIRC has a high level (-20dBish) input also. One point to note regarding most sound chips which aim for soundblaster compatibility: there is an amplifier *before* the level control on each channel. There is probably a sensible reason for this - but the effect is that you may need to reduce the level of a signal *externally* if it is clipping - reducing the gain of the channel will simply give you a clipped smaller signal.
