Has always worked fine with the 70 I got Feb last year.

Another thing I haven't had much problem with with either the 50 or 70... 
though it may be because of the programs I use and having nothing connected 
extrenally except a mouse on this 70.  I never used an external one on the 
50.  For a while it wouldn't hibernate after all the MP3s stopped playing in 
MusicMatch...   But I've gone away and forgotten the system playing MP3s, 
and have come back to have to press the power button and wake up from 
hibernation

The "Power Saver" I have in my W98 setup IS the hairy lightbulb driver.  
Might you be referring here to what I have in W98 (and is part of all W98 
installations I've seen) that's called "Power Management"?  In there you can 
set several profiles defining different timeouts to set "System Standby", 
"Turn off monitor, and "Turn off hard disks".  The order that all that is 
supposed to work in always baffled me.  I've seen several systems (notebooks 
and desktop PCs) where none of this worked very well at all.
