Their cheapest 20GB notebook HDD is $118. I've been following a group of
auctions on EBay, hoping to find a $75 deal like David, but I couldn't
resist bidding up and winning an auction for a Hitachi drive. I was getting
tired waiting wait drive with <$90 bids to come up.

This one was at $70 odd bucks up to an hour or so before the end of the
auction... then it went to $78. 12 minutes to the end of the auction I put
my bid in with an $88 maximum, and was auto-out-bid at $88 since that was
the other guy's high bid too... and since his $88 was first, mine lost.

But... seems you can bid again these days if your right there before the
auction ends. Couldn't do that last year without bidding with a different
user name. So in the last 5 minutes I made another bid with a $91 max
limit... but before submitting it, I went back and changed it to $91.05,
just in case.

Can you believe it... some new guy saw the $88 bid while I was rebidding,
and submitted a bid with a max of $91... and I ended up beating him by 5
cents!

Well... it wasn't the $75 deal I was shooting for... but it was fun :-)
even though I ended up right at that $90 - $100 mark that most of the 20GB
notebook drives are going for. Shipping was $12 with insurance, so it's
livable. I couldn't find any deals as good on the web via pricewatch.com,
etc.

On to figure out the overlay stuff and start loading more MP3s :-)

Matt
