But you may want to trade over to a 3COM 10/100 + 56KB combo >card. Works fine for me with the Toshiba Lightbulb thingy installed, too. >Never had a bit of trouble with any 3COM networking or modem cards, and >many tend to agree they're so 'standard' they've gotta work. I got a 3COM combo modem from, I think it was Spartan Technologies, last year that had the exact same problem as this Xircom modem when I tried setting it up on this 70CT. The system would pwer down every time when booting with the card inserted. I wonder if it has something to do with differences between the 70CT and the 50CT. The Xircom seems to work in my 50CT with those old Win98 drivers. Neil was just mentioning that he had a problem setting up Mandrake on a 70CT that he didn't have with his 50CT. Could there be a set of problems the 70CT has with the old Win98 drivers that the 50CTs don't? Why else would Toshiba pull those old drivers from their support page and offer new ones? Still haven't done the test at this writing, but I wonder if I'm not going to be able to get the LCD to go dim on battery power with the Win98 power saving driver with Toshiba driver modification.
