Pres,

To configure a GPS in Streets, the progression of menu items is
Tools>GPS>Configure GPS Receiver. With success (which I've had with a
desktop and a Vaio laptop) a dialog box labeled GPS Receiver Settings then
comes up, with a choice of com ports. On the Lib (100CT, 64MB), I get to the
Configure GPS Receiver step and then get an ambiguous error message. This
happens with either a PCMCIA-Serial card connection or the EPR (didn't have
the I/O bar at that time). I have reinstalled Streets twice, and checked for
GPS output using Hyperterminal (confirmed GPS output). Also went through
several emails worth of tech support with Garmin - they gave up, said it was
Microsoft's problem. The Lib will recognize the GPS and work perfectly using
Fugawi moving map software (either connection works), but not Streets. To
complete the frustration, a serial mouse attached to either connection will
work fine.

I haven't resorted yet to Microsoft tech support. Any ideas?
