I use a Garmin Etrex Venture with both MS Streets & Trips and Fugawi moving map software (although Streets & Trips will not work on the Lib - it simply will not pick up the signal from the GPS). The Etrex series is nice for dual-duty (in- and out-of-vehicle) as they are all waterproof (submersion to 1 meter, I think). I have had no problems using my Venture in a vehicle, w/o external antenna.
