Actually, I've ALWAYS managed to get away with no config.sys or autoexec.bat ... ya
Win95 screams and moans, I just ignore it and found it actually runs a tad FASTER!

Also, instead of making a directory c:\win95 and c:\drivers and copying the stuff
there, make a directory c:\windows\options\cabs and copy ALL the junk there then run
the install (don't create a drivers directory, just dump all the stuff there). When
you do the install it'll want to install to c:\windows.000 (because it sees an
existing c:\windows), just delete the '.000' and it'll be fine. That prevents you
having a copy of the .cab files in both places AND it stops Windows from trying to use
both c:\windows\options\cabs and the initial install directory (because it only ever
HAD c:\windows\options\cabs!).

Umm ... why bother with the CD-ROM card when all the files are already on the HDD?
Better keep the PCMCIA slot free, the libby needs all the cooling it can get during an
install!

OK correction, if you need to run the install programs for the drivers then dump them
into a drivers dir ... if they're extracted and have all the .inf files sitting there
then just put them into c:\windows\options\cabs (or wherever you dumped the Win95
files) and Windows will pick them up a lot quicker.

Hope this helps!
