My desktop, running W98FE, does. Is it a difference in desktop vs laptop installs? Maybe look at System Properties>Performance>File System and see if its set up for "Mobile or Docking System"? Wouldn't pressing the power button at the "It is now safe..." display force hibernation? More questions than answers - sorry.
