Your system crashes during boot with the card inserted, and you get an error
message? If you have to run ScanDisk (or if it runs automatically) on the
next boot, it's likely a different problem than mine.

When my L70 powers down booting with the combo modem in, it automatically
wants to boot into Safe Mode on the next boot. After that, Windows boots
fine with the modem out, and ScanDisk never finds any errors.

I've nailed the problem down to a conflict between the hairy light bulb
power saving driver and the modem drivers... but I really don't know where
to go from there to try to resolve the problem.
