Trust me, I >tried everything. Umm ... this sorta surprises me a bit ... have you tried the same trick (copying files around) when the HDD is in the libby? Someone correct me if I'm wrong but this sounds more like a problem with your PCMCIA drive caddy (perhaps a power problem?) as opposed to a file system problem ... the communications between your libby and the external drive controller getting messed up somehow such that the libby thinks one thing and the drive controller thinks another. I've actually had almost the same thing happen on my desktop a few days ago when I was playing with hot swapping using the SwapManager (perhaps they should have called it SwapMangler) driver on the motherboard's primary IDE channel ... I told it I swapped the drive out but didn't then did a bit of copying and all was fine, pulled it out, plugged it back in, was fine for a little while then disappeared and didn't return until a COLD reboot! Needless to say I ain't hot swappin' no more ... heh - Raymond --- /~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\ | | "Does fuzzy logic tickle?" | | ___ | "My HDD has no reverse.
