M8.1 is a bit slow - lots of swapping, particularly if you use KDE2.2
M7.1 can be installed from a dos partition on a 50, and runs well, 
particularly with icewm. Haven't tried it with apache though.

Getting hold of the 7.1 installation is a bit tricky but Matt has one now - 
he might be persuaded to copy it.
